What is our Rationale?
Bakerapy is in the process of registering as a Non-profit organization under the Canada Articles of Incorporation.
We are based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Baking is a therapeutic, hands-on activity that fosters a sense of accomplishment and purpose. Mental illness often leads people to withdraw, isolate, and disengage from daily life. By encouraging active participation in a simple, structured activity, we aim to help individuals re-engage with their environment and take meaningful steps toward behavioural activation.
Because food is a universal part of life, baking is approachable, familiar, and highly generalizable. This makes it easier to incorporate into everyday routines regardless of background or skill level. With guidance and a supportive environment, participants can overcome intimidation, build confidence, and experience the satisfaction of creating something tangible.

Hi, I’m Leslie! I studied psychology at U of T and will continue my graduate studies there in the mental health field. I’ve also been working in women’s mental health at CAMH for over a year.
For me, baking is one of my favourite little forms of self-care. It allows me to slow down, play with ideas, and create something sweet in the middle of a busy life. I love canelés and matcha pudding `⎚⩊⎚´ -✧
Wendy Wen
Hi, I’m Wendy! I studied Human Biology at the University of Toronto, and I am the treasurer of Bakerapy.
I may not be much of a baker myself, but I definitely have a sweet tooth! Baked goods are a nice way to boost my mood and share a bit of joy with those around me.
I think Bakerapy will be a creative space where we can enjoy treats and take care of our mental health, one sweet treat at a time.
Cheryl Tang
I'm Cherie! I love everything sweet, so you'll almost always find me cafe-hopping. I love baking and cooking, especially seeing the smiles on people's faces when they try my food. That's what truly warms both the heart and the belly!
I've always believed that food is one of the greatest ways to connect with others. It brings people together, allowing us to share, learn, and understand each other beyond any barriers.
Through BAKERAPY, I hope to create meaningful experiences for the community and a safe, welcoming space where everyone can connect through food.
